Privacy policy

Clear information about the personal data used to run TradieToday.

Last updated: 25 October 2026. This policy is written for an Australian, Melbourne-focused marketplace.

Who we are and scope

Effective 25 October 2026. TradieToday (tradietoday.au) is an early-stage Melbourne-focused trade-job marketplace and information website. In this policy, “we” means the operator of TradieToday. This policy covers the website and its associated account, job-posting, tradie and support functions.

This statement describes current and foreseeable information handling, not a claim that every feature is active. Please use our contact and help page for the currently available communication options.

What information we collect

Account information may include your name, email address, Clerk account identifier, login method, session and security activity, and information necessary to administer access. Authentication is provided by Clerk and may involve Google when you choose Google sign-in.

For job posts and quotes, we may collect job titles, descriptions, trade categories, suburb, budget, timing, bids, messages and account IDs. Avoid posting street addresses, access codes, financial credentials, identity documents or sensitive details in public text.

For tradie applications we may collect business and contact names, trades, service suburb and radius, ABN, licence claims, insurance or credential evidence, years of experience, website and review status. Public-facing profiles may display selected business details, services and location area.

Technical records can include IP address, browser and device information, approximate location inferred from network information, website usage, access logs and abuse-prevention events. Cloudflare analytics and security services may process visits. Browser geolocation, if requested for a suburb search, requires browser permission; the directory uses an approximate suburb centre rather than publishing your exact position.

We may receive information you give us in support enquiries, reports or disputes. Please do not send sensitive documents unless a verified, appropriate channel is available.

How we collect and use information

We collect information when you create or use an account, submit a job or quote, apply as a tradie, communicate with us, or browse the site. Service providers may supply necessary authentication and security details.

We use information to authenticate accounts, maintain jobs and bids, operate listings and applications, conduct credential checks and moderation, prevent fraud, respond to enquiries, troubleshoot and improve performance, comply with legal requirements, and maintain records of relevant transactions or disputes.

We do not claim that posting a job guarantees responses, that a listed business is available immediately, or that an external directory listing is a verified TradieToday member.

Who may see information

Job descriptions and publicly published business profile information can be visible to site visitors. Account-specific information, quote details and messages may be shown to the parties involved and authorised administrators as needed to provide the service. Do not assume information placed in a public job description is confidential.

We use service providers, including Clerk for authentication and Cloudflare for hosting, infrastructure, security and website analytics. Google may process information when you voluntarily choose Google sign-in. Relevant service providers may process information on our instructions under their own terms and privacy practices.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, comply with law or respond to lawful requests. We do not state that personal information is sold to advertisers.

Overseas handling

Clerk, Cloudflare, Google and other infrastructure providers may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other locations where they operate. Exact processing locations depend on provider configuration and may change. Contact us for information available about particular transfers.

Cookies, session storage and analytics

Authentication uses session cookies or comparable browser storage to maintain sign-in and prevent unauthorised access. The site may use temporary browser storage to preserve an unfinished job draft in the same tab. Cloudflare analytics and security functionality may collect technical usage information. Browser controls can restrict cookies, but essential account functions may stop working.

If optional marketing communications are introduced, we will explain the choice and provide a practical way to unsubscribe; this policy does not mean marketing messages are currently offered.

Security, retention and deletion

We use access controls and technical safeguards appropriate to an evolving service, but no internet platform can promise absolute security. Do not share one-time passwords, login links or confidential access details.

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the service, legal obligations, fraud prevention, moderation, recordkeeping and dispute handling. Retention depends on the record; deleting an account may not immediately remove public posts, transaction evidence, backups or records we are legally required to keep. Contact us to ask about removal or de-identification where appropriate.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask for access to personal information we hold, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion where appropriate. You may also raise a privacy complaint. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing account records.

Use the published Contact and help page to find current contact options and identify your request as “Privacy request” or “Privacy complaint”. A dedicated monitored privacy email or postal address has not yet been verified for publication. We will review requests and complaints, explain any lawful limits and respond through an available verified channel. If covered by Australian privacy law, you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you remain dissatisfied.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the service or law changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Read it together with our Terms of service.
